Every movement has its music — from the fields to the streets, from protest halls to festival stages.
Music is more than sound — it’s memory, defiance, and hope wrapped in rhythm. Every generation has found courage in song. Today, we face another moment that demands its soundtrack.
From spirituals sung in bondage to Dylan and Baez, Marley and Simone, Public Enemy and Kendrick - every generation has found its courage in song.
We are living through another moment that demands its soundtrack. Democracy is fragile, truth is under attack, and fear is louder than reason. But history tells us: when the world tilts toward darkness, music rises to meet it.
The Up to Eleven Project is my answer to this moment. I’m building a living archive of resistance, a place where daily song selections and essays meet artist conversations, playlists that grow as movements grow, and art that makes this culture visible in our homes and streets.
The Up to Eleven Project is built on the belief that music powers movements. This project is my attempt to preserve, amplify, and carry that tradition forward — not as nostalgia, but as fuel for today’s struggles.
I’ve spent my life at the intersection of culture, storytelling, and change. From working with movements and campaigns, to building projects that amplify voices often ignored, I’ve seen again and again how music carries truth where politics cannot.
The idea for The Up to Eleven Project grew out of my own ritual — picking songs that spoke to the times we’re living through, writing about them, and sharing them with others. What started as a daily act of reflection became something bigger: a vision for an archive that could connect generations of struggle and inspire a new one.
I believe the songs of resistance are not just history lessons — they’re blueprints for courage. And I believe if we turn them up, share their stories, and connect them to the fights of today, we can help fuel the change we need now.

PLACEHOLDER - For as long as I can remember, music has been the core influence in my life — the one force that gave me direction, language, and courage. But it has also been more than inspiration: it has been my primary tool for activism and change.
For nearly a decade I toured festivals across the country with the Roadshow, weaving art and advocacy together. I marched with the Right2Know Tour, staging daily events at Natural Products Expo. I joined Rage Against the Machine outside the Republican National Convention. I carried the spirit of resistance abroad with the West Africa Aphrodesia Tour and the Nkabom Festival in Ghana.
I sat in the room at the first Al Gore 7/7/07 Climate Change Live Earth meeting, helping to imagine how music could drive global awareness. I co-created the first B Corp music venue, and pushed the conversation of sustainable brands into music festivals and college campuses.
